These self-sustaining ecosystems provides a home for fish and plants which create balance and help maintain your pond. Our ecosystem ponds also create ambience and transform you space into a stunning, natural backyard haven.

Recreation Ponds

A recreation pond is a dynamic system with many benefits and functions, suitable for any space. Offering the same elements as an ecosystem pond, this water features has the add-ed benefit of being large enough for swimming. These ecofriendly ponds are filtered and purified through a natural biological filtration system, consisting of gravel and plants.

Streams & Decorative Water Features

Pondless systems are a fantastic addition to your outdoor living space as a standalone feature or addition to another one of our ponds. If space is a concern a stream or waterfall can provide the benefits of having a waterscape, in the space available. These water features create tranquillity and provide a soothing soundscape where you can sit back and relax. From a cascading waterfall to a waterfall feature within another pond, these water features require little maintenance and are energy efficient. Appropriate for kids, pets, the environment and encouraging local wildlife these pondless systems bring sound and movement to any space.

Biological Up Flow Wetland

Wetlands make an excellent addition to a pond as they not only look great, tying into the natural aesthetic of the pond, but they also act as a natural filter. This filtration improves water quality and clarity and maintains the health of the overall ecosystem. In addition, once the water is balanced it will require less water treatment application. The image below showcases the components involved in a pond wetland.

The wetland must sit a little higher than the pond because you need the water to flow back into the pond, because the bacteria housed in the wetland will consume dissolved oxygen as they utilize nutrients. This flow of water in the form of a waterfall back into the pond is a natural way to re-oxygenate the water.

Wetland Filtration System

The wetland filtration system is often used in larger water features to improve water quality and improve the overall health of the pond ecosystem. This system makes an excellent addition to an ecosystem pond, recreation pond or dams.

1. Snorkel & Centipede

Firstly, water is pumped into the wetland from the pond below. The pond water travels through a pipe into the Centipede Module. The Centipede Module is the long structure that goes down the very bottom of the wetland. From here, the water flows up to the AquaBlox and then to the various layers of gravel. The Snorkel Vault, attached to the Centipede, is convenient for cleaning any sludge that may accumulate on the bottom through usage. Simply pop off the cap and you have complete access for easy cleaning

2. Aquablox & Gravel

Sediment chambers created in the AquaBlox reduce the water velocity, allowing the sedimentation process to occur, while distributing the water evenly along the bottom of the wetland. This slow, even flow of water is needed for optimal contact time between the water and gravel, bringing nutrients and oxygen to the bacteria colonies. Beneficial bacteria are housed in the gravel, providing the first layer of filtration before the water touches the plant roots.

3. Plants

Plants are essential for ensuring a balanced pond ecosystem. Plants help purify the water by reducing nutrients, filtering out sediments and absorbing toxic compounds.
